What better way to ring in the New Year than by holding a holiday fundraiser. Not only will your charitable organization have an opportunity to thank all your major donors who have contributed throughout the year, it is a great time to start of the New Year by raising much-needed funds.
The best way to thank donors and fund raise at the same time is to hold a New Year’s Eve gala event. Your organization’s planning committee can literally have a “ball” with this idea. Of course, to do this, a committee must be in place several months before the fundraiser. Planning should begin by making a list of all donors and volunteers who contributed throughout the prior year. An income and expense sheet is also very important to make sure the New Year’s Event is a profit-making affair. Try to get as much donated as possible including food and drink and entertainment, if possible. Offer sponsorships (monetary and in-kind donations) for all who participate including mention in advertising materials and signage at the event.
Have a keynote speaker at the event who will speak about your organization’s goals for the coming New Year. At midnight, as the celebration is ending, reward each guest with a token of appreciation – any small token is appropriate.
