To plan a successful fundraiser, you must have a plan – call it the ABC’s of fund raising. The plan should begin with a committee charged with deciding on what type of fundraiser the organization will hold and how the money raised will be used.
“A” – assigning specific tasks to committee members and volunteers are a must to assure that all bases are covered to guarantee the success of the fund raising event. Committees should be created for all important aspects of the fundraiser being held including invitations, brochures, mailings, facilities, finances, etc.
“B” – Be specific about your organizations mission and goals. Any donor has the right to know you’re your organization is about and how the money they are donating will be spent. Set specific donor levels and offer benefits for each sponsorship level. For example if a donor sponsors an entire table at a gala, the sponsors name should be included in the event program.
“C” – Community involvement is a must because that is where the money raised comes from, as well as the participants needed to make the fundraiser a success. Using committee members and volunteers – spread the word about the fundraiser throughout the community to generate involvement and donations!
