Rubber bracelets (also called silicone bracelets and awareness bracelets) have taken North America by storm. They are the latest trend everywhere, but this time it’s for a good cause – fund raising.
Lance Armstrong started the fad by sporting a yellow rubber bracelet for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. These bracelets were sold for $1 each and raised funds for cancer research. They are known as Live Strong Bracelets. It wasn’t long before other charitable organizations and fund-raising companies caught on to the trend and started making their own multi-colored bracelets to sell and help their cause. There are bracelets that are used to create awareness and raise money for aids, cancer, diabetes, leukemia, Alzheimer's, substance abuse, to support troops, etc. The organizations are endless.
If you are interested in using these bracelets for your own fundraiser, you can either sell them for a small profit in stores and outside of shopping areas or you can create your own bracelet to reflect the cause that you are raising the money for. The latter is more expensive and time-consuming since you have to design the bracelet, but it is also more personal and will always be specific to your fundraiser.
