Here’s a great, fun idea to raise money for your organization. It’s called a “flamingo” fundraiser. Your organization purchases or has donated a number of pink flamingos (the kind people stick on their lawns or in their gardens). Develop an advertising campaign that promotes the fundraiser as donors can make a donation of $25 or more to have the flamingo placed in someone’s yard. Anyone making a donation can purchase more than one flamingo and place them in the yards of family and friends. Signs can be made to hang around the neck of the flamingo with the name of the donor and the organization that is benefiting from the donation. After a few days, the flamingo can be removed and the process can be repeated with a new donor.
A variation to this fundraising theme is to have donors pay your organization a certain amount to place pink flamingos on someone’s lawn at night. The unsuspecting recipient will wake up to find their lawn covered with pink flamingos. Do have the flamingos removed, the lucky recipient must make a donation to your charity to remove them and place them on someone else’s lawn! This is called “having fun” with family, friends and neighbors and is a great way to fundraise for a good cause.
